  • 2nd ranking economic region in France after the greater Paris region
  • 4th ranking in Europe for the number of research workers
  • 7th ranking European economic region
  • The micro-nanotechnologies and metallurgy capital

Innovative Grenoble
Grenoble is one of the most innovative areas in France, with its development model based on an historical partnership between the university, research and industry, making it a key player at global level.  Today this is focussed on 3 growth sectors:

  • Micro-nanotechnologies and software
  • Biotechnologies and life sciences
  • New energy technologies

Today Grenoble boasts 2 innovation clusters, Nanobio (nano-biotechnologies) and Minatec (micro and nano-technologies) and 3 centres of competitive excellence, 2 of which are present on a global level in Information and Communication Technologies, Biotechnologies and New Energy Technologies.
Among the main players in the region are the Hi-tech industry, metallurgy, metal conversion, mechanical industries, chemicals, plastics, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment and SSIIs.

Key statistics for Grenoble-Isère

A return to our roots for this new edition!
The Vacuum Technologies Exhibition was held in Grenoble for the first time in 1998, and on four subsequent years (2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006), alternating with Paris from 2003.
So this will be the first time for 6 years that the Vacuum Exhibition (which became the SVTM -  Vacuum technology and material treatment exhibition - in 2009) returns to the "French Silicon Valley".

For these reasons the Exhibition, organised in partnership with the A3TS (Thermal and Surface Treatment Association), will once again be an opportunity to meet the leading players in the vacuum and material treatment technologies in the Rhône-Alpes region, which is extremely dynamic in this field. More than 120 exhibitors and 800 participants and visitors are expected for this Grenoble Edition, which is more than ever an essential diary event for our industry.

Two scientific congresses will be held in parallel with the Exhibition:
