A3TS 2012

40th Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering Congress

6th, 7th and 8th June 2012

INVESTMENTS WITH FUTURE POTENTIAL IN MATERIAL TREATMENT
Material treatment, at the very heart of decisive progress in many industries, is a key factor in innovation and competitiveness.  With the support of work at universities and the determination of designers in major industries, these successes have led to a significant growth in the availability of material treatment techniques. This being so, it is not easy to make the right choice. Should investments be directed to new technologies with strong future potential but which still require development? Or on the other hand, have the "standard" technologies gone as far as they can, or are they still capable of renewal through research developments? Accordingly, at a time when the question of "investing in the future" is being debated at the highest levels of government, it is important to identify the material treatment technologies and techniques that should be the subject of investments with future potential.

Among the many sectors involved, three areas have been selected as study themes for our congress:

  • Energy
  • Processes and equipment for heat treatment
  • Surface cleanliness

The aim of the A3TS 2012 Congress is to assess the situation regarding the state of innovating techniques and applications in these fields, so as to identify major trends for investments with future potential.

FFM 2012

French Material Federation study days

From 5th to 7th June 2012

The SFV has been delegated by the FFM (French Material Federation ) to organise the "FFM 2012 Study Days" from 5th to 7th June 2012 around two themes, each lasting two days, with one day of overlap:

  • 5th and 6th June 2012
Surface characterisation, from the nanometric scale to industrial applications.
Organising bodies: A3TS, SF2M, SFMµ and SFV

  • 6th and 7th June 2012
Adsorption in porous materials, from nanometric scale analysis to applications.
Organising bodies: AFA, GFZ and SFV

The target audience comprises researchers, engineers and industrialists who are confronted with surface or adsorption problems, to show them what they can gain from employing the most standard to the most innovating methods of analysis, down to the nanometric level.

Some 16 guest participants will present papers for each of these two themes.
Guest participants are kindly invited to prepare proposals for displayed communications presented by the members of their team to present more specific subjects than those covered by their conference papers.

Call for communications (posters only): January 2012
